Economic crisis & the London Paper (Complain)

Dear Mr Qureshi AM,

I am concerned at the reports in the London Paper about your opinions of the London taxi and the damage you have done to my business especially at a time when taxi-cabs are struggling with the effects of the present economic crisis here in London.

I would like to point out to you that all London’s taxi-cabs meet euro emission 3 standard and due to the nature and design of the vehicle plus the requirements laid down by transport for London and the PCO I am unable to purchase any other type of vehicle other than a TFL/PCO approved taxi-cab, my vehicle is serviced regularly and meets all the present criteria laid down by the licensing authority.

The present Mayor of London was elected democratically and his policies were displayed, discussed and debated in public, over 1.1 million Londoners chose to vote for the conservative candidate which just happened to be Boris Johnson.

You imply in your blog that using a mini-cab is a greener option if you are seeking the use of a taxi service I would like to point out to you mini-cabs are not taxi-cabs and therefore your comparison is wrong and misleading. Mini-cabs are not taxi-cabs and legislation was placed before parliament back in 1998 which clearly defines them as “private hire”.

London’s taxi-cabs are the finest in the world and it is a great shame you have decided to take part in the media silly season and slight the good name and reputation of me and my colleagues.

I look forward to your reply and hopefully an apology, by the way please do produce some receipt pads at the next assembly and Mayoral elections I’ll only be too happy to give my customers a choice of Labour, Tory or even Lib dem receipts.

Yours sincerely,
