Black cab drivers learn languages for London Olympics

Black cab drivers across London are learning foreign languages ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games.

More than 3,000 drivers for Radio Taxis, one of the city’s biggest taxi firms, are being given CDs and MP3s teaching them useful phrases.
The scheme, developed by publisher Collins, will teach drivers French, Spanish and Chinese.

London minicab sex attacks ‘increase by 54%’

Londoners are being warned of the dangers of using illegal minicabs as figures show a 54% increase in minicab-related sex attacks in the past year.

In 2009/2010 143 such offences were reported to police compared with 93 for the previous year.

London taxis take thousands of children from Canary Wharf on trip to Paris

This is one of many charite’s that licenced London taxi drivers support.
The cabbies are taking around 3,500 children suffering from life-threatening illnesses on the trip of a lifetime to Disneyland Paris.

Wirral taxi drivers told to smarten up with dress code

Taxi drivers in Wirral have been banned from wearing tracksuits, flip-flops or dirty clothing under a new dress code introduced by the council.
