Demos & Protests

All because Abacus want free rides home.

This is what it looked like outside Abacus in the city last night, professional licensed taxi’s verses licensed and unlicensed minicabs.

We gathered in a location not to far from Cornhill, around 40 drivers from the LTDF and (TAG) Twitter action group, joined forces, when ready  they went round  in convoy to Abacus. When they arrived they were met buy more drivers coming in from all corners of London. It was more like a mini demo then a hit. people coming out of the club were once again pleased to see our presence.

The picture above is what it shouldn’t look like a complete shambles, just to the right of the picture is where the drivers gather ready to pounc on their prey.

Once again we covered all the work coming out of this club, with plenty of cabs to spare. All the minicab drivers  could do was look on in despair.

These clubs don’t use minicabs because they like them they use them because their staff get free rides home and the club gets back handers from the touts.

It wouldn’t take a lot to sort this problem out. The (PCO) Public carriage office needs to cancel the contract concerning the  illegal satalite office they have created, then the city of London needs to give us a taxi bay, right outside their front door, where the minicabs form their illegal stand.

Then if Grant Davis wanted to add the finishing touches he could put a couple taxi marshals there, then it would be all hunky dory.

Be lucky, Steve.

  1. Well done to every driver who took part in this action. I was unfortunately unable to attend this demo through a family issue that kept me off work that night. But it also goes to show how well these hits are organised though our links on line and on Twitter.
We are making a big difference at this venue and over the last few months have taken back thousands of jobs previously lost to the scabs.
The PCO/TFL have done nothing what so ever at this venue although the police turn up some times. I have heard that a rank is now being considered outside this club, well lets just hope its not a white elephant like the first Cornhill rank that sits there unused.
Keep up this great work and we will prevail.

Hi Jim Once again I thank you for commenting on these issues, even though you weren’t here this time, I know you were looking in through Twitter.

This trade owes you a great deal for all the hard work you do on our behalf.

    Thank you.
