Easter weekend

No work for four whole days great eh!. The morning of Friday the 21st of March at 4.45 am I set of from Lesters house in Barkingside and arrived in Falmouth Cornwall six hours later, as you can imagine the roads were nice and clear.

I know I drive for a living but when i’m driving my car long distances it’s different, I don’t get stressed out I’m more relaxed. When we arrived at the hotel we took our bags to our rooms and set off down the south coast to Land’s end via Porthleven and Penzance.

We had a cold and windy But enjoyable afternoon. After we arrived back at the hotel, it was straight into the pool then the bar, which might seem strange for most, I don’t swim to good after drinking.lands-end15.JPG

The next day we went to The Eden project in St Austell. It must have been 5 to 6 years since we were last here and they have planted a hell of a lot more plants. We arrived cold and left hot and sweaty. I liked it a lot, well worth the trip, probably not worth going back for a few years though.

After leaving St Austell we made our back down the south coast to the pretty fishing port of Mevagissey and had lunch, at Quay west a café facing the port ,cod and chips, it was the best piece of fish I’ve have had in a long time, washed down with a pint of Lager.

After lunch we made out way across to the north coast to Port Isaac then back down to Newquay and boy was it windy, the tide was in, which was a shame because I would have loved to have walked down the beech. Last time we came to Newquay it was for a wedding, my wife’s cousin we stayed at the Penhallow hotel which was facing the beech.

We had a corner room on the top floor with great views of the coastline. Unfortunately it got burnt down, the locals say it was Arson, a shame it was a lovely hotel. That’s it for the day were are knackered, Straight back to the hotel, and bar.

The next day which is the Sunday and our last full day, we headed back down the south coast to Lizard point it was very windy and quite, only half a dozen people there a far cry from the streets of London. After spending around 30 minutes there we were off again this time to Mousehole via Porthleven and

Penzance. Another small and quaint fishing port. Then a quick hop over to St Ives, where we ended up in a restaurant, this time is was Sunday roast and a bottle of the local ale.mousehole1.JPG

Then back to the hotel for our last swim and dinner then home. I had a great weekend.

How about you, let me know.

Be lucky Steve.

Yeah it was a good weekend. Working with computers I always seem to be on 24 hour call to fix problems for friends and family when they go wrong. Good to see that cabbies end up having to drive everywhere on their days off as well, it makes me feel a bit better and not so hard done by.
